The piano drum duo is an association that gives enormous freedom to the partaking musicians. This unconventional formula, infrequently visited up to now, allows to escape the classical structures of jazz (metronome dictated rhythm, cyclical microforms...) offering the possibility to modify certain parameters (harmony, form, rhythm) Both instruments are of the soloist type and the drums, often used as the guarantor of rhythm in more traditional bands, occupies in this case a place of its own and may thus express itself freely.

Its role changes here and allows one to discover a more lyrically tinted aspect of the instrument.

Marc Perrenoud { Piano }

...was born in 1981 in Geneva. He starts piano at the age of 6, in Zurich. He studies at the Conservatoire de Geneve up until 2001 and obtains his diploma in 2005 at the Ecole de jazz de Lausanne.

Sylvain Ghio { Drums }

...was born on the 12th of June 1979. He began studying drums and percussions in 1989. In 1993, he joins the Music Conservatoire of Toulon in Georges Van Gucht's percussion class.
