One had already been able to measure the extent of the talent of Marc Perrenoud in solo or duet. In trio, 26 pianist of Geneva exceeds himself.

Amazing melody imagination, devastating power, lyric intensity of the touch, original compositions of any beauty: "diabolically enthralling, the music of the Marc Perrenoud Trio concentrates best qualities of the jazz of today, all styles included. "

PRESS REVIEWS

A playing list of standards and original compositions interpreted with a nearly brashful intensity. An interesting way of treating harmony aswell as impressive piano skills allow this young pianist to win the prize of best soloist at the International Festival of Bern 2006.

  Der Bund, Bern (CH)

Today, I have the pleasure to show you the most important discover   of the year for me(...) Marc Perrenoud. This pianist is crazy, he swings. Gosh, he is from Geneva like a lot of talented pianists who are from there(...)

PERRENOUD GHIO DUO

The piano drum duo is an association that gives enormous freedom to the partaking musicians. This unconventional formula, infrequently visited up to now, allows to escape the classical structures of jazz (metronome dictated rhythm, cyclical microforms...) offering the possibility to modify certain parameters (harmony, form, rhythm)
Both instruments are of the soloist type and the drums, often used as the guarantor of rhythm in more traditional bands, occupies in this case a place of its own and may thus

express itself freely. Its role changes here and allows one to discover a more lyrically tinted aspect of the instrument.

PRESS REVIEW

(...) The beautiful Talk to the Tress of Randy Brecker puts in display considerable pianistic means but L'Escalier reveals a particularly subtle compositor that makes lyricism a priority undaunted by the complexity of harmony, just like a Marc Copland(...)

Nicolas Brémaud, Jazzman magazine***, Paris (FR)

"An original association infrequently used with Sylvain Ghio, a French drummer whose spectacular playing ways and expression remind one of Daniel Humair, from Kenny Barron to the Red Hot Chili Peppers visiting Ralph Tower and Depeche Mode, the duo explores music of these last twenty years with an interesting complicity"

H.B

(...)Tracks like "Vis Island" and "L'escalier" are clearly Compositions With a Capital C, as they develop themes and counterpoints and all that stuff. Perrenoud is always masterful (...) It's certainly hanging around my list of best jazz discs of the year.
